Re: Other Faves?
I played in a FASERIP campaign GM'd by Andrew, but in others too. I enjoyed them all.
I was a big CHAMPIONS player up until HERO 4th edition. 5th and 6th are too crunchy for my tastes.
I write for M&M, but outside of convention games I've never played it.
I have great fondness for V&V. The Montreal Knights began there.

Re: Other Faves?
M&M 1st edition was the RPG that really got me into superhero gaming. I read it over and over again. I loved the artwork. I loved creating characters. I dreamed of the amazing things they would do in-play... And then... I played the game. Ugh.... Huge disappointment. It was too complicated and heroes were too easily rendered ineffective.
BASH was next and I happily ran it for over a year. Great game and a great piece of genre emulation. After a year however, I found myself house ruling and streamlining more and more stuff. Which led me to SUPERS!
And for Golden/Silver Age style superhero action, it's darn near perfect.
My other favorite RPGs:
James Bond 007
Savage Worlds
Castles & Crusades

Re: Other Faves?
My other favorite superheroic RPGS are Villains and Vigilantes and the TSR Marvel game, no doubt.
Of those two, V&V is my favorite, based mostly on the sheer fun I've had coming up with random characters using the system. I kept using it to make characters for other games, or just for the heck of it, even when my group wasn't playing the game any more. Also, the simple speed of play and the amount of free-styling written into the rule book didn't hurt the game's chances to take the number 1 spot.
Honestly, what drove me to seek out another game was not n unhappiness with the system of V&V, but the bad taste in my mouth connected to the stupid legal battle going on around the game right now.
However, I will also say that I really liked rolling up Heroes Unlimited characters back when that first came out , too, but we never, ever tried to actually play that system

Re: Other Faves?
Man... you have a knack for finding the most obscure yet free and cool looking games.

Re: Other Faves?
If we are branching out into other genres, for me the best cersion of d20 fantasy was a game called Everstone. It is not free. However I have seen it for sale for under $3.00. It is out of print and has no support, but it is an excellent game!
