Ok, think I came up with a concept.
Mister Midnight:
Stuart Hansen was a two bit crook doing a simple break in at a local pawn shop when the event happened. He discovered he had power over darkness. He also learned that when the sun sets, he could drain energy from people, as well as create webs and such out of pure darkness. His gang wanted him to use his powers to make bigger scores, but Stuart felt the dream was a sign that he couldn't walk this path anymore.
He anonymously turned his gang into the police, got a new, forged identity (his last criminal act), and set about creating a costumed persona to strike fear into other criminals. Thus was born Mister Midnight, the scourge of the streets...

It looks like we have at least 3! I'll start up the In Character (IC) and Out Of Character (OOC) posts tomorrow morning to allow anyone else who may be interested a chance to join in the fun. (At the start, it may be fairly easy to get some more people involved if they want as well.)

I'll look at the numbers a little closer tonight, but everything looks pretty good with a quick scan. In the background detail, I'm going to assume these are things that are going to happen, since I want to start gaming right at the moment of the planetary alignment and gaining powers, so I hope you don't mind that great bit of role playing in your future

Could Mr. Midnight be robbing something other than a pawn shop (maybe a rich household)? I'm thinking it wouldn't be his idea, he'd be dragged along unwittingly by his gang friends.

How rich? I like the idea of being treasure hunters, though that's traditionally more of a Caribbean than off-the-coast-of-the-US Pacific thing. Maybe her dad made a big find back in the day and used that to form the company he now runs in Monterey?
Hopefully not *too* rich... was really seeing her, her dad and uncle as pretty blue collar, down to earth and humble. You can still have money with all that, of course.
Other possible connections, given the timing, it's quite possible that there's a WWII navy connection for her dad, uncle or both.
I can be flexible, though -- whichever way you want to go.

Kuromizo's powers allow him to turn into a living dark star, becoming incredibly dense, so much so that he can actually create a localized gravity field that draws objects to himself. When he activates his powers, his skin and all his possessions turn pitch black as light can't escape his body, though a faint glowing aura forms just beyond his form's super dense skin.

Ok, so we're basically going to start off with us gaining our powers? That's fine with me. I just whipped the character up quickly at work, so I have no problems playing this out.

Sure. As I wrote above, this was just something I whipped up quickly, and I'm not dead set on. I had considered adding the secret disad (the secret being he's actually a criminal with a record), but if we're starting off right before we gain our powers, I guess that wouldn't work as well.
Oh, and I figured his instant change is actually his powers creating his costume

Okay, just a little bookkeeping before we officially get started (later tonight).

You have your Resistances down at 5 points total, but it looks like they are actually 6 points, putting your total at one over the rest at 21 points.

Your numbers look like this: Resistances 5d + Aptitudes 8d + Powers 7d = 20 dice. This is perfect, except you have 1d comptency, which also puts you 1 over.
