Re: [IC] [Supers!] The Age of Aquarius

Grace Clements

"What the heck is going on down here?" Grace exclaimed, her eyes wide as she pulled the car over. Getting out, she ran to the barricades and then looked back at her uncle for guidance.

Stuart Hansen

Trailing the woman and her uncle, Stuart made his way to the financial district. He saw the police barricades, and was surprised to see no officers manning them. Looking around, he saw some people moving in and out a building, and realized some were the police!

Not sure what to do, he felt some weird tingling in his head, and his vision got blurry....

Grace Clements
Grace explained the situation to her uncle. The police and other onlookers were dragging out furniture, televisions, and other bits and pieces from the building.

"Grace, I think we got lucky that I don't have my vision right now, because I can hear screams calling for my help. You have a strong mind Grace. I think you're going to need it. The bank is just up ahead on 6th Street."

A woman runs up to you carrying a cash register, trying to hand it to you. "Please, take this baby," she tells you. "I've got to go back, there are more inside."

Stuart Hansen
You suddenly see why the police have abandoned their posts. The building must be on fire. Smoke is billowing out of them. The police and other people are carrying injured children and old people out of them.

Grace, guiding her uncle, seems to be ignoring the carnage around you.

Grace Clements

Accepting the cash register awkwardly, not knowing what else to do with it, Grace looked down at the heavy thing dumbly, trying to process what she was seeing and experiencing -- because it seemed very different to what others were seeing and experiencing.

"Uncle, no one is calling for you. Like I said, people are running madly, stealing everything that isn't nailed down. Except maybe I think they don't know they're stealing things. This lady that just ran up to me and asked me to take her baby? Well... she handed me a cash register."

Watching the fray for a moment, Clements tried to get some sense of what might be behind it, some clue as to what was going on. A place where everyone was leaving their stolen goods, a person not engaged in rampant burgling, anything that might offer up a thread she could pull further. This was a mystery that needed unraveling!

Grace Clements

Grace noticed that none of the people were moving around the National Bank building, which is where her uncle was directing her to go.

The imposing building had a stone stairway in front of it. At the top of the stairway, Grace noticed a man standing, watching her and her uncle. He was wearing tattered, shabby clothes, and had a bottle in a paper bag that he occassionally drank from. He didn't seem affected by the chaos around them.

"There's the bank," Grace said to her uncle, then she was dragging him towards it, running along, weaving and ducking through the chaos that was surging through the streets.

"No sign of dad," she said, "but there's an old wino at the top of the steps just sort of standing there. He doesn't look like he's affected by whatever's got everyone acting so loony." Climbing the steps carefully, helping her blind uncle along, Grace addressed the man drinking from the paper bag when they reached the top of the steps.

"Excuse me!" the girl exclaimed. "Do you know what the heck is going on here?"

"You've got a strong will, missy," the bedraggled old man tells Grace, taking a swig from his bottle in the brown bag. "Best for you to go home, sleep it off. They don' want anyone else in there," he says nodding up at the front door of the bank, which has clearly been smashed through.
