Hello,

Is there any chance I could join in? I'm new to the rules, and my group doesn't really like superhero rpgs, but I LOVE them. It would be great to get to be a player in a supers game. Give me a chance to see how the rules work, and a rare time to actually not be GM.

Pharaoh Jones ran with an African-American street gang in his youth, but gave it up after his life was saved by an elderly Kung Fu master named Wang Po. Wang made Pharaoh a deal, if he gave up his life of crime, then Wang would teach him the secrets of Kung-Fu.

A child of adoption, John Doe was always curious about his lineage. This being the 60's he began to experiment with past life regression techniques to find his "true self" . After the "Dawning" he discovers that he is able to harness genetic memories to aide him in the present.

This manifests as knowledge and skills he has never studied, or able to understand in an extremely short period of time. A jack of all trades and physical savant. He has frequent feelings of deja vu...(This also opens up the possibility /explanation of post-cognition in certain circumstances)

He looks pretty good. At 2d aptitude, I don't think you get any specializations. Also, the powers cost is actually 9, which puts you at 20 in line with the other heroes (you could actually add 1 more if you wanted). I'm not exactly sure how you are planning on using the Energy Control power with its limitation.

I was sort of seeing it as similar to the Taskmasters "Photographic Reflexes" except, he's be gaining the knowledge/skill from one of his ancestors or past lives, rather than direct observation. . Honestly, i should probably change it to Mimic. Could just say he has to see it in real life to give him the deja vu to recall the ability for awhile.

But, i also see it as more than just physical skills, he could recall knowledge as well..so maybe that would be super brain?

Based on what you've described so far, I think super brain might be the way to go more than mimic (which to me would be more duplicating actual superpowers). Super brain could even be limited with no technology enhancement. That would still put you in the "super" range of dice, but I think that's appropriate to the Taskmaster analog.

Super brain would cover knowledge, but not anything physical. What about using Wizardry, but with a limit of only Physical Aptitudes and "Physically Trained" powers?

It would require a roll (just like the spell roll) to recall the appropriate skill/power

Thanks for letting me know. Due to the ever changing nature of superhero campaigns, I'm sure it would be possible for Mr. Midnight to join back in at a later date.

Heroglyph,
Wizardry would obviously be the all purpose kludge and would work fine, but I think it would be horribly expensive and not very representative of what you are trying to accomplish with this character.

At the present points, for example, Hindsight would only get 3d in Wizardry. This is great if you are saying some of Hindsight's ancestors could leap unbelievable distances, shoot fireballs out of their hands, etc., but I doubt that's what you're looking for.

As far as Super Brain not affecting physical aspects of the character, I think it's a question of semantics. Is Taskmaster's "photographic reflexes" a matter of his physical stats, or his mental ones? When dealing with a character like that, the two almost mesh into one. If it feels better, slap a generic "boost" onto super brain that lets it affect physical aptitudes and physical trained powers.

That would still give Hindsight 4d (don't forget the limit of "no technology") that could be successfully accessed at any time (rather than being very hit or miss a la wizardry). He would also have 4d academia, allowing you the specialization of parapsychology.
