Great stuff! Also, I must know more about the Aardvark! Very interesting character. It looks like he has earth-based powers or something like that?

You nailed it; playing off the meaning of the word aardvark (earth pig), he's a dopy geologist turned super (still dopy) villain via his ability to draw strength from and control over the earth.

Villainpedia?

Five villains each issue, starting with Volume A. So far I have Arc Light and Aardvark nailed down and am working on Armageddon Girl. Look for Arsenal and one other as yet unnamed villain as well (possibly Arkhos)!

Well have to put working on the Villainpedia on hold while I get to work on TGI's Iron Gauntlet cover. It's going to be a great second offering by them, following up on the Freedom Ring. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Here's Armageddon Girl, an illustration for the Villainpedia I wanted to wrap up before I started on the cover. She's equal parts angel of the apocalypse and psychopathic and violently emotional teenager, all wrapped up in a beautiful young woman's form (oh and she has crap tons of dice and the not so sweet disposition to use them). Enjoy!

Every time I see a Dustland image i am blown away on how much each image improves from the last.

Nicely done, Sir. Can't wait to see Dustland the Comic!

Oh and the crapload of dice using teen angelic avenger sounds scary.

Regards,
Walt

Hey Dustland!

I can't wait to pick up the Villainapedia! Armageddon Girl and Arc Light look fantastic! I especially dig the electrical effects coming off of Arc Light. That, combined with his build and posture, make for a dramatic and imposing figure.

I also dig Armageddon Girl's billowing "skirt" of smoke and destruction, and the maelstrom of apocalyptic chaos behind her! I also love the way her arm and hand gestures suggest a casual evocation of such destructive power. She's obviously doing a lot of damage, and she seems like she can easily do much more.

Kudos, my friend.

BTW, I know this is a reference to a piece of art that's not public yet, but my eldest daughter, Athena, loved the work you did on Sire for the cover of Iron Gauntlet. She said, "Whoah! He looks like he just did something evil!" :-)

In short - I love your stuff, man! :-)

All the best,

Dragonfly

Here's another addition to the Villainpedia, A-Game. He's similar to Captain America in that he's at the peek of human physical potential, but that's where the similarities end.

A-Game is everything you'd imagine a bad sport to be: brash, sore loser, and an even worse winner. He lies and cheats, and isn't satisified with simply proving his superiority over his opponent, he must dominate and humiliate him as well.

Took a break from working on the Iron Gauntlet cover for Dragonfly/TGI and some cool alien illustrations for Urbwar/Soul Taker Studios in order to practice my chops on the standard superhero physique. Ended up with this guy, the self proclaimed Guardian of the Bahamas, the mystical super Ndi Obia.

Enjoy!

Re: Dustland's Illustrations

I've had an idea in my head to take Golden Age characters and bring them into the 21st century. This is my first attempt, a firefighter turned psycho vigilante who calls himself the Black Axeman.

Image

Once I get the stats nailed down I'll post them plus a link to a pdf, but for now just know that the Black Axeman is a Normal who uses his axe and knowledge of pyrotechnics to dish out brutal justice. The idea is for him to operate on the far side of the thin gray line that most heroes probably don't cross, forcing players to make tough decisions when dealing with him. Sure he'll help you track down a villain, but he fully intends to either chop him to bits or burn him alive!

It doesn't help that he has the backing of some powerful figures within the local police and fire departments....
