Re: The Hello Thread

Thanks for the welcomes.

I started with MSH and GURPS Supers (of all things), then "graduated" to HERO/Champions. Used the BBB for years on end, still have fond memories, but BOY do I not want to "go back." Lots of false starts after that. Fusion, Silver Age Sentinels, 1st Edition M&M, quite a few more before settling in for a long, steady run on M&M despite hating d20. (I used 2d10 to actually give it a bell curve...)

I really do like BASH, but it's still medium crunchy and doesn't *quite* scratch the itch like I think SUPERS is going to. I'll find out tonight, as I plan to run a quick adventure / combat for my 10 year old. He wants to play Pathfinder, but the rules are making my eyes bleed. Just need the time to convert that to BoL-style rules. emoticon

Well, SUPERS! (and I) survived first contact. Overall, it ran ridiculously easily and smoothly, given fifteen minutes of prep time and just explaining the rules, what there are of them, as we went.

It did, of course, generate some questions. Is there a better thread for actual play or straight rules questions / ideas?

Howdy Harrigan!

Welcome aboard! I've been away from these boards for awhile, due to A) my busy school year (I'm a teacher), and B) the work I've been doing on the revised edition of Supers! (RED). That project took all of the time I had to spare for RPGs!

Anyway, it's good to see new folks joining the community.

All the best,

Dragonfly

Re: The Hello Thread

Time to add to this thread. My name is Quin, a software developer in eastern Oregon. I got my wife into RPGs, comics, and videogames over the course of our marriage.

I have been buying various super RPGs the past 2-3 years on PDF. Easy entry as the cost is mostly under $10, probably closer to $5 really. Supers! struck me as a version of the D6 system, or maybe Champions/GURPS? At least until l read a review, on RPGnet?

The "one use of power per turn" and creative use of attacking/defending got me interested in playing. As mentioned elsewhere, been a big fan of BRP/Superworld for decades.

Eager to see the Red version.
