New Crusaders
From the new Archie Comics / Red Circle digital comic series, here is the write-up for:
Fireball
Link: http://redcirclecomics.com/whos-who/fireball/
Resistances
Composure: 2D
Fortitude: 2D
Reaction: 3D
Will: 2D
Aptitudes
Athleticism: 2D
Presence: 2D
Powers
Elemental Control (Fire): 5D, Area Effect
Invulnerability (Fire): 3D
Ads
Hideout
Disads
Minor
Cost: 16 D
Competency Pool: 4 (Base 20)
Okay, so I wasn't sure if I should give him the "Allies" Ad simply because he is part of a legacy hero team, or if I should give him the "Enemies" Disad because he is kind of targeted by the Brain Emperor and other enemies of the previous team of Crusaders. People who've also read the series might have more of an idea what the heck I'm talking about

Re: New Crusaders
Sweet!
Just a note on documenting Boosts: you need to inidcate how many dice are in it, otherwise us poor slobs are left guessing
I assume the Area Effect boost is 1D because of your dice total (16D), but it'd be nice if it were noted.
That being said, love the build and keep 'em coming!

Re: New Crusaders
That's actually a really good point, since I totally didn't read "Area Effect" when I was whipping up that character!
Now that I've read the rules anew, I would say it's kind of hard to decide on the Dice factor for this boost. I was basing it on a scene in the series where Fireball creates a tall ring of fire to surround himself and his friends and defend them temporarily from a large group of escaped prisoners....
Any thoughts on modeling stuff like that?

If you want to stick with the core rules, you're doing it right, it's just that Fireball isn't focused or powerful enough to resist more than two attacks in a round. It probably works out anyway with the scene you've described:
Fireball wins initiative and uses his EC (Fire) to create a wall of fire around himself and his allies to protect against a group of escaped prisoners (Mooks 12 for instance).
Essentially he's holding his action, with the ability to defend two people with his power. If someone gets attacked, he can roll his power first; if he fails to deflect the attack, the target gets to defend as normal.
Even if you had two groups of Mooks 12 (so ~ 24 people) Fireball could still intercept the two attacks.
What if there's three (or more) groups of Mooks?
Well, Fireball's wall is overcome by the sheer volume of the attacks (shield's down!) or Fireball himself can't keep track of all the incoming attacks, accidentally allowing the wall to slip on his flank, giving the third group of Mooks an opening to attack!
Of course Fireball could burn a Comp Die to try to intercept the third attack too...
Hope that helps and sorry for the lengthy reply.

Re: New Crusaders
Lengthy replies are more than welcome! I think I will leave it at 1D of Area Effect then, especially since Fireball and the rest of his team are literally brand new heroes.
Well, if the storm doesn't knock out my power, I shall move on to some of the other members of the team, and some bad guys, as the week goes on!

Re: New Crusaders
For today's Write-up, we have:
The Web
Link: http://redcirclecomics.com/whos-who/web/
Resistances
Composure: 2D
Fortitude: 1D (3D in Web Suit)
Reaction: 2D (4D in Web Suit)
Will: 2D
Aptitudes
Athleticism: 3D (Web Suit only, see below)
Academia: 3D
Technology: 2D
Powers
Web Sense 4D (Can be used for attack or defense, but is mostly used by Wyatt to detect "connections" between people, etc)
Web Suit(all powers are "Devices)
Armor: 2D
Reaction +2D
Fortitude +2D
Athleticism +2D
Ads
Hideout
Disads
Minor
Cost: 14D
Competency Pool: 6D (Base 20)
These characters are still evolving as the series goes on. For example, the Web recently used his "Web Sense" as a kind of telekinesis, to grab some oncoming bad guys. Since even he was shocked by this emerging ability, I decided not to write it up here.

Re: New Crusaders
No prob, man, very glad that you are into it. I think it's just what the superhero genre needed, or at least it's something that I needed in order to keep me reading a new superhero series

Re: New Crusaders
If you need a superhero comic to keep you reading, may I suggest Invincible?
It is fresh (I dismissed it initially as a whiney young superhero comic), Invincible ACTUALLY changes (i.e. he had aged since the comic began) and I love realistic physics superheroes (getting punched by a Viltrumite (think Kryptonian level strength) is messy)
Also, great support characters that also change and stay changed
This is entirely UNLIKE Marvel and DC who feel the need to keep Spider-Man a sad sack teenager and Superman perpetually 28-30 years old
Give me Judge Dredd any day - he had been aging in almost 100% real time since his debut back in 77 (he was 28 when the comic started, he is now in his early 60s)
