Re: Wonder Woman New 52
I tend to stay away from DC for the most part. I can't really connect with their characters. I don't know what it is. I think it might be the very generic names for the characters or the fact that the publisher consistently does STUPID crap (the other ones do it to but usually not on DC's scale).
What's so good about the series? I heard they took 30 years of cannon material and blew it out of the water (as well as a huge slap in the face to women everywhere).
Is there a lot of beefcake? That will turn me off to a comic quicker than anything else. I love art that depicts what real folks look and move like. Guys like Leifield create dynamic art but dude needs to take an anatomy class.

Walt

Re: Wonder Woman New 52
I have no idea where you get this "slap to women" thing from. I don't see that.
Yes it does throw out 30 years of shitty, directionless and crappy continuity and instead makes Diana part of a mythos that actually behaves like a Greek mythos and not a sanitized white-washed one, but a dirty, mean and creepy one.
The gods in this story are interesting and more so than that, it is an engaging and dynamic story that makes Wonder Woman not only fresh, but much like Batman's adventures in his own book are very different than when he is in the Justice League book, gives Diana her own thing that she handles that isn't just spandex slugfests.
Great read, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Re: Wonder Woman New 52
I might have to give it a try. The only thing that kills me is that DC more so than any other comic has a tendency to "Star Wars" their stories.
They start off handing their properties to these really talented writers and then when the writer invokes a change to make things interesting they yank it back and blow everything out of the water.
I have never been a huge fan of DC for many reasons. Lately they always seem to be trying to outshine everyone instead of just telling good stories.
Hopefully wonder woman will be the exception.

Walt

12 issues in and still with Brian Azzarello, who is just knocking it out of the park!
